Day 2 of the League of Legends 2026 World Championship Play-In concluded with two Best-of-Five series. KC defeated MVK 3-0, while FUR came back from a game down to win three consecutive games, defeating C9 3-1. As a result, C9 became the first team eliminated from this year's tournament.
KC established an early advantage in Game 1 thanks to a double kill in the bot lane, lane priority in the top lane, and their jungler's control over map resources. In Game 2, MVK opted for an unusual composition featuring Twisted Fate in the top lane and Rumble in the mid lane. They secured early kills and even managed to steal Baron Nashor at one point, but KC turned the tide by securing Dragons and winning a subsequent team fight around Baron.
In Game 3, MVK attempted to run Kog'Maw in the mid lane, but the strategy failed to yield the desired results. KC's top laner, Canna, playing Kennen, secured a shutdown kill. The team secured Baron Nashor around the 21-minute mark and subsequently closed out the series.
In the other elimination match, C9 won Game 1 by securing Baron Nashor and Elder Dragon. In Game 2, after C9's jungler was killed, FUR capitalized on the opportunity to take Baron and evened the score. In Games 3 and 4, FUR gradually expanded their lead and completed the comeback, driven by team fights initiated by Volibear in the top lane and Twisted Fate in the mid lane.
Next, MVK will face off against FUR. The winner will challenge KC at 2:00 AM on October 19th for the sole spot in the Swiss Stage of the Play-In.
