The Japanese product page for GTA 6 now displays a CERO Z rating, restricted to players aged 18 and over. It has not yet been announced whether the Japanese version will adjust violent or sexual content.
Ratings for North America and Europe appeared around October 2, but the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store pages in Japan previously still showed "Under Review," a status also reflected in the release trailer published on October 15. With about a month left until the planned release date, the Japanese rating has finally been confirmed.
The Japanese store page also lists content icons for "Crime" and "Violence," matching the rating composition for Grand Theft Auto V in Japan. Overseas, the game received an ESRB M rating in North America and a PEGI 18 rating in Europe, based on criteria involving blood, intense violence, and strong sexual content; notes from Australia and New Zealand also listed "sex scenes."
Although the Japanese version of Grand Theft Auto V also received a CERO Z rating, it adjusted sexual scenes and omitted some brutal depictions. As of now, officials have not clarified whether there are any differences in visuals or content expression between the Japanese and overseas versions of GTA 6. The game is scheduled to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
