S-Game has already begun conceptualizing the long-term development roadmap for Phantom Blade Zero post-launch, with directions including sequels, expansion content, and cross-media projects such as anime and films. However, these are currently just备选 concepts, and whether to proceed will depend on the market feedback and commercial performance of the first installment.
Game Director Soulframe stated that the team already has some ideas for the future of the series, but they won't make any direct commitments at this stage. S-Game needs to first observe whether Phantom Blade Zero gains player popularity and achieves satisfactory commercial performance before deciding which projects to invest in next.
Cross-media development is also a direction the team is considering. S-Game is currently producing related merchandise, and may launch anime or even films based on this world in the future. Soulframe stated that the team is willing to invest time to develop this world into an original and mature IP.
The approximately six-hour demo also featured a segment of 2D animation, whose visual style marked a distinct shift from the game's otherwise strong cinematic aesthetic. Specific plot details were not disclosed due to confidentiality requirements. Soulframe also mentioned that the team had produced high-quality 2D animation for the Year of the Dragon celebration trailer two years ago, so animation is one of the forms they may explore in the future, while other media formats have not been ruled out.
