GTA 6 seems to have added another item to the series' already extensive list of "vices." In addition to strip clubs, violent carjackings, and wanton killing, the new age rating indicates that the game includes "frequent and prominent" drug use that players can engage in "at any time."
GTA 6 recently received a PEGI 18+ age rating. The rating information was uploaded to the Pan European Game Information website and then quickly removed, but fans had already saved and shared the detailed listing before that.
The PEGI description basically covers what you'd expect from a GTA game: murder, robbery, gun crime, other illegal activities, and plenty of profanity. And this sixth main installment appears to allow players to freely use drugs.
The now-deleted rating report stated: "Drug use is frequent and prominent in the game; players can use drugs with other players or directly from their inventory. Notably, players can carry cocaine on their person and snort it directly from their hand at any time.."
Although most GTA stories revolve around drug trafficking, the series' protagonists are generally not keen on using the drugs they sell. Both GTA V and GTA Online offer optional bongs for smoking marijuana, but these are typically found only in player-owned apartments and cannot be carried around in the game world.
Another age rating report earlier today suggested that GTA 6 might be the first game in the series to directly depict sex scenes, and the PEGI rating information confirms this: "The game contains strong sexual themes, including nudity, scenes of sexual intercourse, and occasional fetishistic content. In various nightclubs, players can also pay to watch private dances, during which the game allows players to place their hands on the dancers' breasts and buttocks."
Finally, as expected, the game also features violence, which is standard for Rockstar Games. PEGI states that players can "harm all other characters in the environment in a highly realistic manner." Certain weapons apparently "cause more severe damage, such as more detailed decapitations and dismemberment."
Rockstar developers have been boasting about how they have significantly improved the "redesigned" weather system in GTA 6 and the details in other aspects of the game, so more realistic violence may not be surprising.
