During a comparable sales period, "Ghost of Yotei" sold approximately 1.5 million fewer copies than "Ghost of Tsushima."
"Ghost of Yotei" surpassed 3 million copies sold shortly after launch, reportedly exceeding its predecessor's initial sales. However, reports indicate that during the same post-launch period, its sales have fallen behind those of "Ghost of Tsushima."
According to third-party analytics firm Alinea Analytics, "Ghost of Yotei" has currently sold approximately 1.5 million fewer copies than "Ghost of Tsushima."
Comparing launch day revenue, "Ghost of Yotei" and "Ghost of Tsushima" generated $407 million and $418 million, respectively. The former has sold 5.4 million copies to date, while the latter has sold 7 million.
Despite lower sales, "Ghost of Yotei"'s revenue nearly matched its predecessor's thanks to its $70 launch price and limited discounts.
Analysts also explained that the release environments for the two titles were not identical. "Ghost of Tsushima" launched in 2020 on PS4, facing a larger console user base at the time; "Ghost of Yotei," by contrast, had a relatively smaller potential audience.
