Despite concerns about player numbers during the early testing phase, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has now achieved tremendous success. With several years having passed since the previous entry in the Modern Warfare reboot series, Modern Warfare III seems to have shaken off the slump of its predecessor.
Modern Warfare has just surpassed the peak of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
The early access version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has been hailed as the best campaign in the Call of Duty series in years. Even without multiplayer or DMZ modes, it attracted an impressive 108,500 players on Steam alone for the Call of Duty application.
Although this is far from a record-breaking number for the Call of Duty series, the significant surge in player count still far exceeds the player records for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on Steam.
Part of the reason is that Xbox Game Pass caused some player churn for previous titles, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III did not launch on Game Pass.
Many media reviews have regarded this game's campaign as one of the better entries in the series in recent years, believing that a clear theme and narrative direction remain essential components of the Call of Duty experience. There is currently no official data on additional online players after the full release and the opening of multiplayer content.
