Ghostwire: Tokyo Joins GOG Preservation Program and Removes Bethesda.NET Integration

Ghostwire: Tokyo has now joined the GOG Preservation Program. This version removes the Bethesda.NET integration, so players no longer need to deal with that service and its associated content upon first launch. GOG has also promised to maintain game compatibility through patches as future operating systems and runtime environments evolve.

This update does not involve removing Denuvo. The Denuvo protection previously added to Ghostwire: Tokyo was removed shortly after release. The main change in this new version is reduced reliance on external account services, ensuring long-term stability and maintenance for the game, rather than adding new content or graphical upgrades.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is an action-adventure game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks, with over 6 million players to date. Tango faced potential closure when Xbox suddenly announced its shutdown, but was subsequently acquired by Krafton, the owner of PUBG.

PC Gamer gave the game a score of 72, noting that its launch was overshadowed by titles like Elden Ring, but it has since cultivated a stable fanbase. After joining the GOG Preservation Program, the game has received a clear commitment to compatibility maintenance for future operating environments.
