Castlevania: Curse of Darkness Creator Calls Characters Sexy, Proposes "Hot Dad" Award

The development team behind Castlevania: Curse of Belmont is well aware of their characters' charm and has seen the enthusiastic fan creations produced by players. They fully agree—the gaming industry should establish special awards to recognize the most charming "sexy dad" characters in games.

In an interview with gaming media Fall Damage, Lead Designer Sandro Bordier was asked if he had seen any "fangirl-style" fan works inspired by the new title. He admitted, "There have been, for a while now—honestly, we've seen quite a few."

The development team at Evil Empire wasn't surprised by the bold fan art created by players, as the developers were well aware of how eye-catching their characters' designs were.

Bordier added, "That's right, we know some characters are very charming. In fact, this is a style we deliberately cultivated, the overall atmosphere we wanted. We're quite proud of it. Honestly, we're thrilled to see such an enthusiastic response from players to the revealed characters. The entire team poured a lot of effort into designing the characters, hoping to satisfy the players."

Reportedly, the development team was "very satisfied" with the flood of fangirl-style fan art and the general player response to most characters. However, the reaction to the return of character Trevor Belmont was particularly explosive.

Marketing Director Béranger Dupret added, "Especially Trevor, we completely didn't expect him to be this popular. The Game Awards really should have a 'Best Sexy Dad' award." Although Hades from Hades, Cranky Kong from Donkey Kong, and Marcus Fenix from Gears of War might have missed out, it's never too late to make up for that regret.

Dupret also stated, "It's always interesting to see these fan creations, because we know how important and significant these characters are to the players. We're trying to craft new stories with these characters, so there's actually been quite a bit of pressure. So far, the player response has been overwhelmingly positive."
