Studio Trigger, the animation team behind Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, used the "virtual camera" from Cyberpunk 2077 to explore Night City, selecting "ideal filming locations that fit the storyline" for Season 2.
Bartosz Sztybor, creator and showrunner of Edgerunners, discussed the criteria for selecting Night City locations in an interview with GamesRadar+, stating, "This is where Studio Trigger shines; they are all devoted fans of the game."
Sztybor admitted, "They know this city better than I do." He added that he never marks specific place names in the script—because he knows Studio Trigger will put in the effort to recreate scenes of Roman, the new character holding a camera, strolling through the streets of Night City in Season 2.
"Director Hiromi Igarashi, I feel he's practically Roman himself. He roamed Night City in-game with a virtual camera, searching for perfect spots that fit the narrative. Interestingly, I didn't need to specify exact locations in the script because we knew Studio Trigger would always find the most ideal filming sites."
In Season 1, iconic locations like the Afterlife bar, Tom's Diner, and the H4 Megabuilding were brought to the Netflix screen. Season 2 will go even further, with players likely recognizing specific street corners and storefronts in this dystopian Night City.
Soon, we'll be able to enjoy the wonders of Night City in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 alongside a host of new companions—Vick Kingsley, Roman, Talia, and D.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 will launch on Netflix on October 20.
