Show Lo Mispronounces Cantonese During Charity Livestream, Corrected by Hosts After Tiffany Lau Repeats It

On the evening of October 17, Show Lo participated in TVB's major charity program "Kindness Fills Yan Oi Tong." During the live broadcast, he attempted to encourage viewers to donate generously in Cantonese, but mispronounced "philanthropist" (sin6 si6 gaa1) so that it sounded like "crazy" (ci1 sin3 gaa3). Tiffany Lau then loudly echoed the phrase, prompting the other hosts to immediately correct her.

Show Lo was invited to Hong Kong that evening as a performance guest for the program, where he sang "High Profile Love" and "A Little Love." After his performance, he interacted with the hosts. He originally intended to say, "We are all philanthropists," but his pronunciation slipped.

Tiffany Lau, hosting a major live broadcast for the first time, playfully repeated the phrase in the same tone. Shaun Tam, Brian Tse, Heidi Chu, and Mayanne Mak immediately corrected her to say "philanthropist." Realizing the misunderstanding, Tiffany covered her face and laughed heartily, while Mayanne smoothed things over by remarking, "Both of them are very cute."

Related videos subsequently circulated online. Some netizens found the clip quite comical, while others questioned whether it was an on-the-spot misunderstanding or pre-arranged, suggesting that if it were a scripted segment, it might show insufficient respect to the guests and the event. Currently, TVB, the program producers, Show Lo, and Tiffany Lau have not provided further clarification on whether it was pre-arranged.
