Activision Marketing Director Tyler Bahl believes that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and GTA 6 are the two most important games of 2026. In his view, the concentrated release of major titles will encourage players to dust off their Xbox and PlayStation consoles, drawing more attention to the entire gaming industry.
Bahl also stated that the appeal of Call of Duty stems not only from its shooting gameplay but also from the social experience of playing with friends, with cross-platform play remaining a key feature of the series. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will return to Nintendo platforms this year, launching on the Switch 2.
Unlike last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Microsoft did not arrange for this title to be available on Game Pass on its launch day. Bahl explained that previous arrangements had caused confusion among players regarding how to access the game, so Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 aims to simplify consumer communication. The company is also offering a 10% discount to returning customers and providing exclusive weapon blueprints to Xbox users.
Currently, players who pre-ordered can already access the campaign content. The DMZ mode is scheduled to launch on October 20, with the full game set for release on October 23.
