Developer Uses Godot to Transform New Resident Evil Movie into a PS1-Style Game

Developer Julian Zamora, known as chicanogoth, has revealed early footage of a Resident Evil fan game. He is using the Godot engine to transform Zach Cregger's new film into a survival horror game in the style of the original PlayStation.

The demo recreates the barn chase scene from the early part of the movie. Bryan, a medical courier played by Austin Abrams, takes shelter in a barn during a blizzard before being pursued by infected dogs. As the character moves, the camera switches between fixed angles, just like in early Resident Evil titles, with background buildings and approaching enemies creating a sense of oppression.

The film was released on September 18, with a plot centered around Bryan delivering a package to Raccoon City General Hospital after an outbreak. Shortly after the film's release, other creators had already made PS1-style skins of Bryan and added them to Resident Evil 2.

Zamora has not yet announced a release date for this fan game, stating only that more development progress will be shown soon. The currently released content only confirms that the project is in production and its visual direction; the full scale, playable scope, and release method remain to be confirmed.
