Digital Foundry has completed a technical analysis of the Metaphor: ReFantazio demo for Nintendo Switch 2. The current version employs a temporal anti-aliasing-based image reconstruction solution. Some visual elements reconstruct better than the PS5 version, but there appear to be display anomalies in TV mode, with the resolution capped at 2560×720 pixels.
Analysis suggests that this version may be using DLSS, though this has not been confirmed as an official technical specification. Existing tests also lack complete comparative data on frame rates, native internal rendering resolutions, and different scenes, so conclusions are limited to the effects currently presented in the demo.
It remains unclear whether the 2560×720 limitation in TV mode is a demo-specific bug or an issue with the current build. Whether this anomaly will be fixed by launch and if some of the visual advantages will carry over to the retail version still require further testing to confirm.
Metaphor: ReFantazio for Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for release on November 12, 2026. Previously announced information covered the game's download size and demo availability, while this test further showcases the current version's graphical performance.
