The action-adventure game "Beyond Paradise" has released its first story trailer, the "Kitakyushu Arc," revealing the starting point of protagonist Makoto Tojo's 50-year journey. After losing his parents, this half-American, half-Japanese man decides to travel to his mother's homeland, Japan, to find his place in the world.
The trailer begins with Makoto Tojo facing persecution in the United States. He sneaks aboard the "ghost ship" of the trading company Orpheus, attempting to use it as a means to reach Japan. Makoto Tojo is portrayed by Yu Shirota, while Orpheus is played by Snoop Dogg.
Masaya Shinkai, who also sneaks onto the ship, makes an appearance in the footage; he later becomes Makoto Tojo's close friend and is portrayed by Dean Fujioka. Characters whose lives intersect with Makoto Tojo's, such as Heigo Yashima, Tae Matsumoto, and Masao Hataoka, also appear, played by Akio Otsuka, Honoka Hoji, and Takeshi Ukaji respectively.
The "Kitakyushu Arc" will depict how Makoto Tojo meets these characters and the circumstances that lead him to become a talent agent, showcasing his gradual establishment of a foothold in Japan. Official sources plan to reveal stories from other stages of his life and different cities in the future.
Developed and published by SEGA, "Beyond Paradise" is scheduled for release on January 15, 2027, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
