An unofficial PC port of Gran Turismo Sport is now available, with the project hosted on GitHub. This is not an official PC version released by Sony or Polyphony Digital, and no titles in the Gran Turismo series have officially launched on Steam or the Epic Games Store.
To address shader stutter, the port offers three solutions. Players can precompile all previously used shaders on the launch screen and monitor progress; in related tests, approximately 13,600 stored pipelines took about 25 seconds to build. The game can also pause execution and internal timers when encountering new shaders, resuming once compilation is complete to reduce instantaneous stutter and sudden object pop-in.
The third option batch-precompiles shaders likely to be used next, allowing you to choose a batch processing range of up to 0.1, 0.3, or 1 second. This trades fewer but longer pauses for smoother subsequent gameplay, and this feature is disabled by default. Compilation tasks are also assigned to CPU efficiency cores to preserve performance cores for game threads.
The project also supports AMD FSR 3.1 frame generation. Since the original game does not provide motion vectors, ghosting may appear around fast-moving objects and UI elements. Developers state that the experience is better when the base frame rate exceeds 40 FPS, though this assessment comes from the project team; the port currently still has limitations regarding compatibility, visual artifacts, and overall maturity.
