October 2026 – Independent game studio netplay entertainment announced today that its deep medieval life and family dynasty simulation game, Medieval Ascendant, will participate in Steam Next Fest from October 19 to 26. The free demo is now available for download on the Steam store page, supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux, and will remain accessible throughout Next Fest. For the Chinese market, the game has also revealed its official Simplified Chinese name, "Medieval Ascendant," along with newly localized key art and store cover images.
Pass Down Through Generations, Write Your Family Epic
In Medieval Ascendant, players enter the fantasy kingdom of Aldred, facing the harsh realities of the medieval world. You start as a penniless serf, climbing step by step in a rigidly hierarchical society. When your character passes away, heirs take over Everythinggj you leave behind, with each generation's choices determining the rise and fall of your family.
Farm, learn crafts, or monopolize markets to build a vast production network across five distinct provinces. You can influence the kingdom's fate through economic power, open warfare, or secret plots. Whether you reach the pinnacle of power through iron-blooded conquest, political maneuvering, or the power of money is entirely up to you.
Game Features
· True Dynasty Simulation: Rise from a powerless serf to the heights of nobility over multiple generations. The game features genetics, inheritance, and education systems, allowing you to form strategic alliances through marriage and dowries.
· Dynamic Economic System: Five provinces each have local markets where demand fluctuates with population changes, featuring NPC competitors and seasonal variations. Droughts, plagues, and wars affect prices; you can use economic means to make a province prosperous or plunge it into famine.
· Complete Production Chains: All goods in the game can be produced by yourself, with different provinces having advantages in specific commodities.
· Strategic Warfare, Tactical Battles: Wage war against rival families, or defend the kingdom against neighboring invasions. Each battle unfolds over multiple turns, where characters may suffer permanent disabilities or even die on the battlefield.
· Death Is Not the End: Family legacy continues through generations, with each playthrough generating unique stories and unpredictable dialogue outcomes.

Robert Kolloch, founder of netplay entertainment, stated: "Medieval Ascendant is about a long-term game: how one person's life can bring change, and how far a family can go over several generations. The Steam Next Fest demo is the best opportunity to start this journey. We are also delighted to bring this game to Chinese players with an exclusive Chinese name and artwork."
