A player's white ROG Strix RTX 4080 Super OC sent in for repair was deemed unrepairable. ASUS first replaced it with a black TUF Gaming RTX 5080, and later approved a swap to the white ROG Astral RTX 5080 White OC. This entire resolution comes from the player's shared personal RMA experience.
The initially provided RTX 5080 represented a generational upgrade, but its black color scheme didn't match the player's all-white PC build. According to their post, they continued to request a replacement in the same color, and after about six weeks of email correspondence, the case was escalated to higher-level management.
ASUS ultimately approved the player's request for the specified white ROG Astral RTX 5080 White OC. After returning the black TUF graphics card, the new card was delivered via FedEx Standard Overnight service at no additional cost.
Relevant 1440p benchmark data shows that the RTX 5080 delivers higher average frame rates in Black MYTH - Steam Edition: Wukong, Cyberpunk 2077, F1 24, and The Talos Principle 2. Results for Homeworld 3 were relatively close, and the RTX 5080 did not lead across the board in 1% low FPS metrics for certain titles.
