Epic recently released a preview version of its redesigned Epic Games Launcher, directly comparing it to competitor Steam and claiming the new launcher offers faster startup speeds.
According to data released by Epic,The new launcher takes only 5.47 seconds to reach the store page from a cold start, whereas Steam previously required 10.07 seconds.
In response, popular streamer xQc, with over 16 million followers across all platforms, shared his thoughts during a live stream, bluntly criticizing: "Bro, nobody wants to use your crappy thing; we don't care at all. Even if GTA 6 were free on your broken launcher one day, people would still prefer to buy it at full price on Steam rather than use yours. Nobody wants to use that stuff."
It's worth noting that just one day after the Epic Launcher update, Valve quietly updated the Steam client, significantly optimizing its launch speed.User tests show that the new Steam cold start time has dropped to around 5 seconds, basically matching or even surpassing Epic's claimed 5.47 seconds.
This instantly made Epic's "faster than Steam" claim look awkward.
