GPU Prices Set to Rise as RTX 5090/5080 Vanish: MSI and ASUS Report Stock Shortages

According to the latest revelation from blogger Hardware Tea Talk, sources from MSI and ASUS factories have stated that there will be almost no graphics card inventory available this month or next.

What's worse, even MSI and ASUS themselves cannot see NVIDIA's chip supply schedule. The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are completely out of stock, and graphics card prices will continue to rise.

This information aligns with recent reports from various sources. The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are currently NVIDIA's flagship and sub-flagship gaming cards. Recent rumors suggest that NVIDIA has halted production of the RTX 5090 to redirect GB202 capacity towards AI data centers and professional GPUs.

NVIDIA later confirmed that the RTX 5090 has not been discontinued but acknowledged supply constraints. Now, with both major AIB partners MSI and ASUS reporting a complete lack of inventory, the severity of the supply shortage is evident.

The core reason is naturally the shift in chip production capacity towards AI and professional cards. The GB202, which serves as the core GPU for the RTX 5090, is also used in the RTX Pro series. With the latter priced as high as $16,000 and offering profits far exceeding those of gaming cards, NVIDIA is prioritizing its limited production capacity for these high-margin product lines, naturally tightening the supply channel for gaming cards.

For consumers waiting for price drops on the RTX 5090 or RTX 5080, good news may never arrive.
