Actor Mark Wahlberg is open to creating a digital version of himself and accepts the idea of this version continuing to appear in films or TV series after his death. He hopes that his children and grandchildren will control his facial likeness and digital identity, deciding whether to authorize his participation in new film and television projects.
Wahlberg discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of the film industry at the TechCrunch Disrupt event. When asked if he considered creating a personal digital archive in the CAA Vault, he stated that he had not yet visited The Facilty but was interested in the concept.
At present, Wahlberg has only expressed his willingness to explore digital preservation and posthumous licensing. He has not confirmed that any scans have been completed, specific contracts signed, or AI models capable of direct performance established, nor has he identified any new projects that will utilize his digital likeness.
According to his vision, the decision to activate this digital version would be left to his family. His public statement focused on accepting the possibility of posthumous digital performances, rather than indicating that any existing film or television projects are preparing to recreate his image through AI.
