Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney denied rumors that Disney had acquired Mediatonic from Epic. He also urged players not to give up on Fall Guys, revealing that the team is working on a "major overhaul" of the game.
Sweeney stated that this overhaul aims to unlock new possibilities for Fall Guys. However, he did not specify whether the changes would involve gameplay, technical architecture, business models, or content creation tools, nor did he announce a release date for these updates.
Fall Guys became a hit during the pandemic but gradually lost momentum due to a lack of significant updates. In August 2024, the game entered the Fortnite ecosystem, initially integrating battle royale content and primarily relying on UEFN and creative tools to support creators in making Fall Guys islands. However, this arrangement has yet to bring about a noticeable revival.
What can be confirmed is that Mediatonic has not been acquired by Disney, and Epic Games has no plans to discontinue Fall Guys; related redevelopment efforts are still underway. Whether the overhaul will bring new modes, platform support, and changes to creation tools, as well as how it might affect existing player progress, remains to be further clarified by Epic Games or the development team.
