Rumor: Rockstar Invited Daft Punk to Compose GTA 6 Soundtrack, But Was Rejected

Recent rumors suggest that Rockstar Games invited the French electronic music duo Daft Punk to collaborate again and create an original soundtrack for GTA 6, but both members ultimately declined the offer. Currently, these negotiations have not been confirmed by Rockstar or the members themselves.

According to reports, representatives from Rockstar Games contacted Daft Punk's management team, hoping to persuade Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo to return to the studio, offering a budget that was reportedly "effectively unlimited." However, the duo allegedly remained steadfast in their decision to disband, which they announced in 2021.

The same report also stated that the French electronic music duo Justice was initially considered as a backup option after Daft Punk. Justice's music has already appeared in the recently released launch trailer for GTA 6. Some players believe their more aggressive, heavy, and dark electronic sound fits well with the tense atmosphere of the game's nocturnal criminal underworld.

GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
