NVIDIA has launched a new DLSS Frame Generation Performance Mode for RTX 40 and RTX 50 series graphics cards, offering up to a 35% frame rate boost with a slight compromise in image quality. This mode is currently in Beta testing and is named Preset C (C Preset) in the DLSS Advanced Override settings within the NVIDIA App.
The new mode, named Frame Generation - Performance Mode, replaces the original optical flow AI model with a new algorithm. The original mode is retained and renamed Frame Generation - Quality Mode. According to official statements, Preset C consumes fewer GPU resources but results in a slight reduction in image quality.
Taking RTX 5060 test data as an example:
3x Frame Generation: Frame rate increases from 120 FPS to 132 FPS
6x Frame Generation: Frame rate surges from 255 FPS to 348 FPS
How to enable: Update the NVIDIA App, go to Settings > DLSS Override Model Preset, and select Preset C for Frame Generation. As it is currently only in Beta, third-party tests are still needed to verify whether NVIDIA's performance claims are fully accurate.
