Bungie is once again recruiting developers for Destiny 2, with a newly opened contract position for a Senior User Experience Designer, specifically titled "Interaction Designer," whose work will focus on player interactions. This hiring indicates that the team is adding dedicated personnel to continue maintaining the game.
Previously, approximately 400 positions at Bungie, Sony, or among contractors were cut, and the studio had once planned to end all support and online service updates after the June "Monument of Triumphs" update. The job posting did not disclose the specific features this interaction designer would be responsible for, nor did it provide a timeline for related content.
Bungie previously stated that it would restore removed content in Destiny 2 for free, including the "Red War" campaign, "Curse of Osiris," "Warmind," and currently inaccessible locations such as Io and Titan. The studio also cautioned that this restoration effort would take considerable time. A recent patch was released to address long-standing issues within the game.
The studio also expressed its desire to revitalize the entire Destiny franchise, with potential directions involving new titles, spin-offs, or sequels, though no specific projects have been confirmed. Executives had hinted at plans for a PC remake of Destiny 1 through social media comments; petitions calling for Destiny 3 have garnered over 410,000 signatures, but neither Bungie nor Sony has committed to producing a sequel.
