Supermassive Games has released a free update for the horror game "Directive 8020," adding an online multiplayer mode supporting up to five players. Players can assign participants by scene, character, or other grouping methods to progress through the game together.
The custom mode primarily uses a turn-based approach, where the player whose turn it is controls the character; the rotation mode has a time limit, after which control passes to another player. Participants can also vote on story choices, with results revealed after the voting ends.
This online feature currently does not support cross-platform play, and each participant needs to own a copy of the game. The update also adds 13 new omens related to subsequent events, allowing players to gauge potential dangers, and introduces a crew outfit DLC with a retro-futuristic style.
"Directive 8020" is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. The game currently has a Metascore of 72 based on 61 reviews on Metacritic; GamingBolt previously gave it an 8/10, praising its presentation and the atmosphere of suspicion within its sci-fi setting.
