Tower of Fantasy to End PS4 Service Starting October 20! Player Progress Can Be Transferred to PS5

Hotta Studio and Perfect World have announced that support and updates for the PS4 version of "Tower of Fantasy" will cease starting October 20, at which point players will no longer be able to log in via PS4. This adjustment only affects the PS4 client; the PS5 version will remain online, making the game exclusively available on PS5 among console platforms.

The official statement attributes this adjustment to performance optimization difficulties and application size limitations on the PS4 platform. Existing players' progress can carry over to the PS5 version, and previously unclaimed items will be retained, allowing players to claim them after upgrading to PS5 at a later date.

"Tower of Fantasy" initially launched on PC and mobile devices, later arriving on PS4 and PS5 in 2023 as a free-to-play MMORPG. The title has currently accumulated over 16,000 user reviews on the PlayStation Store, with an average score of 3.71 out of 5.

Some negative reviews mention account deletions and bugs; some issues have been addressed, while others are still being fixed. Many reviews, however, praise the game's core gameplay loop and story. This change does not mean a full shutdown of "Tower of Fantasy," nor does it signal the end of service for the PS5 version; what is being retired after October 20 is the PS4 client, with player progress and unclaimed content still eligible for transfer to the PS5 version.
