Hong Kong actor Au Kam-tong recounts for the first time an unusual experience he had while practicing swordplay late at night. He claims his viewpoint once rose three to four feet, lasting about two seconds, which he described as a suspected "out-of-body experience."
The 63-year-old Au Kam-tong stated on his personal YouTube channel, "乜乜棠水铺 The Stephen Au Show," that he has practiced Chiu Family Taizu Quan for many years. At the time, he was practicing the internal cultivation method of a sword technique. This training routine is extremely slow, requiring the same movement to be repeated over a hundred times. To ensure a quiet environment, he chose to practice late at night.
During his practice, Au Kam-tong felt himself gradually entering a state free of distracting thoughts. The curtains and sofa before him seemed to slowly sink. He determined that the furniture wasn't moving, but rather his line of sight was rising. When he noticed the anomaly and felt fear, his vision immediately returned to normal. Since he didn't feel his body land or impact anything, he believed he hadn't actually jumped.
Au Kam-tong later shared the experience with Master Chiu. The master said his training method was correct, but that he had never encountered such a situation himself, warning that there could be danger if one's consciousness failed to return.
