H2 Interactive has announced that the 1999 arcade-style RC racing game "RC Revenge" will launch on Nintendo Switch and PS5 on November 5. The Switch version will also be playable on Nintendo Switch 2 via backward compatibility, but there is currently no news regarding a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 version or an Xbox release.
This return is not merely a straightforward port. The game will feature new additions such as a mini-map and in-game help. Players can now carry three items simultaneously during races instead of just one, and four-player split-screen multiplayer is supported. Aside from these adjustments, the core gameplay aims to preserve the original experience.
Originally developed by Acclaim Studios London and published by Acclaim Entertainment, "RC Revenge" was released in 1999 for PC, the original PlayStation, and Nintendo 64, with a Dreamcast version following later. The game launched on Steam in 2022, where it currently holds a "Very Positive" overall rating based on 1,371 user reviews, with a 90% positive rating.
The Steam version is priced at $5.99, though it remains unclear if the console versions will share the same pricing. The announcement used the broad term "PlayStation," suggesting that a PS4 version may also be in the works, although this has not been directly confirmed.
