Embark Studios is expanding the game show-style presentation in Season 12 of THE FINALS. The new "Dynamic Commentary" feature can identify players who complete specific highlight-worthy actions, allowing the fictional host Scotty to call out their usernames in real-time during commentary.
Audio Director Carl Strandberg stated that the development team is currently triggering this feature only in a few preset scenarios to control what Scotty actually says and ensure quality voice output. The game already uses samples from paid actors, generating arena announcements and host commentary via text-to-speech technology; the new season will build on this by incorporating player usernames.
Season 12 is scheduled to launch on October 20 and will introduce two new gadgets: the Mimic Device and the Translocator. The new Solo Showdown mode is a 12-player tournament where competitors must survive three consecutive rounds, with each round randomly selected from eight different mini-modes.
This update will also adjust audiovisual and physical effects. Building structures will bend, sag, and collapse in more natural ways, smoke will react to forces within the arena, and footsteps have been improved to help players track enemies.
