Utsuro Port Layer Showcases Minecraft Running on iOS and macOS Devices!

Developer @leviidev01 has unveiled the early-stage project Utsuro, demonstrating Minecraft: Bedrock Edition running on iOS and macOS devices. The footage shows the game can be played using touch controls, and the project currently also supports controllers.

Utsuro aims to run Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on iOS and macOS devices. It employs a translation layer approach rather than being a traditional full-console emulator. The Windows version of Minecraft runs in user space as x86-64 on top of FEXCore, with system components typically provided by the original console hardware being supplemented by this project.

This technical approach marks a significant difference between Utsuro and previous iOS-based Xbox 360 emulators, as well as other console community emulation and porting experiments. The current demo also provides a practical example of porting the Minecraft software environment to Apple devices.

The developer stated that Utsuro is still in the early stages of development. The current demo only confirms that Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is running, which does not represent broad compatibility with the Minecraft game library, nor is it sufficient to judge the project's performance, stability, or final release status; further details on code progress, additional game testing, and compatibility scope are yet to be announced.
