Chandler Riggs Proposes Two-Season Series Adaptation of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village!

Chandler Riggs has proposed a concept for a Resident Evil TV series adaptation, hoping to tell the stories of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village: Across the Shadows across two seasons, with approximately six episodes per season. He is willing to participate if Constantin Film, which holds the series' film and television adaptation rights, decides to develop it into an official production.

Riggs recently self-produced, directed, and starred in a 20-minute fan short film based on Resident Evil 7, titled "Resident Evil." The short film was released on YouTube on October 14, 2026, with Riggs playing Ethan Winters and his The Walking Dead colleague Jason Douglas portraying Jack Baker.

When discussing the possibility of continuing production, Riggs stated that the short film consumed a significant amount of time and effort, with production costs personally borne by him without compensation, making it difficult to continue producing independently in the same manner. He believes that the story of Resident Evil 7 would be hard to compress into a 90-minute movie if it maintained the faithful adaptation approach used in the short film.

Riggs believes that a series of this scale doesn't necessarily require a Marvel-level blockbuster budget. However, the two-season proposal currently represents only his personal vision as an actor and fan creator, and does not mean the project has been officially greenlit; Constantin Film has yet to respond.
