Cygnus Cross released the demo for the action RPG "Ember Town" on Steam on October 20, with save data carrying over to the Early Access version. The game will launch in Early Access on Steam and GOG.com on October 27, 2026.
Players take on the role of an amnesiac protagonist who delves into the large underground magical prison "Vetromortas" to rescue prisoners and investigate its mysteries, all while rebuilding the abandoned Ember Town. As of September, the game has surpassed 600,000 global wishlist registrations.
The game combines loot-driven dungeon combat with farming, fishing, gathering, crafting, and town-building. Materials obtained through exploration can be used to craft and upgrade equipment or construct town facilities. Rescued NPCs will participate in reconstruction, helping players unlock new technologies and abilities while gradually revealing their own hidden stories.
Combat features fast-paced action mechanics, with each weapon having unique combos formed by primary and secondary attacks, including axes, hammers, and crossbows. Players can also pass active or passive skills learned by one class to other classes. The demo covers the prologue, including combat, combos, exploration, loot and material collection, and equipment crafting.
The initial Early Access phase will unlock the first major biome, with plans to add the area's final boss within a month while improving controller support and fixing bugs. The full release is expected after approximately 18 more months of development, during which the game will expand to nine biomes; co-op mode, mod support, and console versions are planned for post-launch updates.
