Evil Empire stated that the studio still holds fond memories of Dead Cells, the game that brought the team together, but currently has no plans to return to its development. The team has already begun working on an unannounced "dream collaboration" project, though it remains in the early stages.
Evil Empire was initially founded by four co-founders, primarily responsible for the ongoing support of Dead Cells, while other members of Motion Twin shifted focus to developing Windblown. Since then, Evil Empire first expanded to 15 people, and later grew to around 50 employees through projects related to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Castlevania: Curse of Darkness.
It has been over two years since the team finished development on Dead Cells. Business Lead Ben Laulan stated that the studio will always cherish the title that helped establish Evil Empire and fostered the growth of the current team, but this sentiment stems more from nostalgia than any concrete plan to return. CEO Thomas Pfeiffer also noted that while leaving the project was somewhat regrettable, it gave the team the opportunity to consider creating their own games.
Evil Empire is currently expanding its live operations department and is involved in the Brotato project, with potential for further collaborations with other partners in the future. Given the team's current capacity, the studio can simultaneously advance two to three titles at different stages of development.
The two leads confirmed that the studio is already working on its own "dream collaboration" project, but they cannot reveal the partner or specific details at this stage. Pfeiffer also views owning original IP as a long-term goal, believing it allows the studio to create its own value and take on more risks, although the team's current focus remains on completing the games currently in development.
