The "Immersive Third-Person" mod for Cyberpunk 2077 has now launched version 2.0.0, further expanding independent character animations and scene interactions. After the update, most non-combat content in the game can be experienced from a third-person perspective, but combat remains unsupported.
The original version of Cyberpunk 2077 uses a first-person perspective. CD Projekt Red previously stated that switching to third-person would weaken the immersion the game aims to create. This PC mod developed by CybrDrake offers an alternative way to play, correcting third-person animations and dynamically switching perspectives based on the player's situation.
The mod handles first-person and third-person animations separately, allowing players to switch back to first-person at any time to preserve the original experience. The third-person mode uses independently created animations, implemented similarly to games that support perspective switching, such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Starfield.
The mod was initially released last month. Version 2.0.0 adds a complete set of custom animations for male V, along with new animations for female V, automatic vaulting while sprinting, head tracking during NPC conversations, and English voice lip-syncing. Scene interactions, terminal operations, and elevator rides also receive corresponding support.
Media reviewers believe that the current level of completion allows players who dislike first-person perspectives to experience most of the content through a new viewpoint. However, this is not a comprehensive perspective-switching solution covering all gameplay mechanics, nor does it indicate that CD Projekt Red has changed the original design.
