Indie developer sgthale has released a free basic demo for the survival simulation game Family Time. Players take on the role of a wolf pack parent in the wilderness, balancing survival with caring for their growing cubs. The game currently has over 700,000 wishlists on Steam.
The game includes activities such as fetching water, hunting, preparing food, building shelters, and crafting furniture. Cubs can also participate in camp construction by helping to gather branches, stones, and plant fibers.
Parent-child interaction is a key focus of the game. Players can pat their cubs' heads, play with them, or pick them up and toss them in the air, actions that directly affect the characters' moods.
The demo was initially available only to paid supporters on the developer's Patreon, but the basic version has since been made free, featuring a tutorial prologue, initial crafting recipes, and core family activities. Recent development updates also mention logging, water-powered sawmills, and a complete preservation system.
The full version of Family Time is scheduled to launch on Steam in early 2027, with the exact release date and price yet to be announced.
