The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remastered Takes Up 27GB, Over 800 Times the Original Size

The file size for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 is reportedly 27GB, which is more than 800 times the 32MB cartridge capacity of the original 1998 Nintendo 64 version. This figure has yet to be officially confirmed by Nintendo.

The information comes from a photo of a game download card taken and posted by Twitter user Genki_JPN. This download card has appeared in Japanese stores, and besides game screenshots and artwork, it indicates a capacity of 27GB.

Compared to other large-scale games, 27GB is not particularly high. The capacities for the Switch 2 versions of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are 90.4GB and 91.5GB, respectively. However, among the mainline The Legend of Zelda titles from the Switch era listed in the article, 27GB is still the highest value, exceeding the 24GB Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the 20GB Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The remastered version of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom are both approximately 5GB. If spin-offs are included, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity has a larger capacity at 43.5GB. Players planning to purchase the digital version can temporarily allocate 27GB of storage space, but should wait for confirmation from Nintendo's official page or product materials.
