French electronic music duo Justice introduced their approach to creating the original soundtrack for GTA VI. Faced with the game's long-standing hype and player expectations, the duo chose to maintain an outsider's perspective as much as possible, avoiding external influences on their creative process.
Member Gaspard Augé stated that they are well aware players have been waiting for a long time and can sense this massive project drawing near. However, during the actual creation process, Justice did not let this pressure affect their work, instead focusing on what the pieces themselves required.
Regarding the '80s vibe present in the released music, Justice stated that the team did not initially set out to create tracks in a specific style; this atmosphere formed naturally during the creative process while retaining a futuristic feel. Augé cited as an example that some sounds resembling guitars actually came from synthesizers, as regular guitars could not produce the same phasing effect and futuristic sensation.
The first single, "Flower in a Hurricane," features Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, garnering 2.8 million views on YouTube within less than a week of its release.
In addition to Justice's soundtrack, GTA VI will feature content described as "the next stage of in-game radio" through multiple radio stations and podcasts. The official album is planned to include 34 specially created songs, featuring new music from Keith Richards and Travis Scott.
