Warframe Reworks Riven System and Caps Ammo Efficiency on October 22

Digital Extremes will once again adjust the Riven Mod system in Warframe on October 22, removing "Riven Disposition," which varied based on weapon usage rates and balancing needs. Ammo Efficiency will also be capped at 75%. These two changes may directly affect current builds and weapon choices.

The old system assigned different Disposition values to Riven Mods for different weapons, adjusting them quarterly to balance popular weapons and high-damage outputs. After the update, existing Rivens will be uniformly reset to new base values, equivalent to a 1.2 Disposition in the old system. New weapons will receive strong Riven bonuses from day one, while the practical value of existing Rivens may significantly increase or decrease.

The developers aim for all Riven Mods to provide perceptible benefits, reduce the need for continuous adjustments, and ensure that both new and existing weapons are balanced under the same set of rules. With few temporary exceptions, Ammo Efficiency will be capped at 75%. Even at this cap, at least one unit of ammo will be consumed every four shots, meaning builds that rely on stacking efficiency for near-infinite ammo will no longer be viable.

To mitigate the impact on existing builds, Digital Extremes will distribute rewards to all players via the in-game inbox. Players who used the Riven Splicer and Trait Lock features introduced in 2026 to help test the new system will receive double rewards. The actual changes in effectiveness for different weapons will need to be confirmed after the update goes live.
