Muramasa Rebirth: Remastered Maps and Combat, New Fast Travel and Secret Art Upgrades

Muramasa: The Demon Blade - Kitan features reworked maps, rebalanced combat, and refined controller controls. The new game removes street barriers and introduces sedan bearers who provide fast-travel-like functionality, along with additions such as emergency dodges and upgraded secret techniques.

Director Hiroshi Nakanishi stated that in the original game, streets other than the main path were blocked off by barriers, but this restriction has been removed in the new title. If players accidentally wander into areas with powerful enemies, the full release offers several ways to escape combat; however, venturing too deeply into dangerous zones may still make escape difficult, requiring timely retreat.

The secret technique system has also changed; it is no longer tied to specific weapons and can be upgraded. The development team has rebalanced the overall game accordingly, aiming to reflect character progression through secret technique cultivation. Controller controls have been optimized for the new platforms, allowing players to perform emergency dodges with a single button, use items from the ninja pouch directly via the directional pad, and switch to a second ninja pouch by pressing the L button.

Offline demos show that this title retains the satisfying combat style of the original, while improved visuals give the familiar adventure a fresh look. Muramasa: The Demon Blade - Kitan is scheduled for release on February 4, 2027, on PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and PC, with Chinese language support.
