Blind Descent, an open-world survival adventure game developed by Pokuch and published by META Publishing, launched its multiplayer co-op playtest on October 14. This test focuses on online gameplay, supporting up to four players. Players can apply for free access via the Steam store page.
This Round of Testing Focuses on Multiplayer Co-op
Compared to the previous single-player test, this playtest introduces multiplayer co-op experiences. Players can embark on adventures with friends, gathering resources, crafting tools, establishing survival bases, and continuing to explore underground areas together.
In multiplayer mode, exploration and survival require team coordination. Members can divide tasks to prepare supplies and research material uses, or advance together, assisting each other when encountering unfamiliar creatures or environmental hazards. This test provides players with an opportunity to experience cooperative gameplay firsthand, and the development team will continue to adjust the game based on feedback.
Explore, Craft, and Adapt in an Alien Ecosystem
The game is set beneath the surface of Mars. While searching for clues about a missing expedition, players will encounter an underground ecosystem with unique creatures and environments. Observing surrounding life forms and understanding resource usage are part of progressing through the exploration.
Survival crafting is also tied into this process. Players need to gather materials, research and craft tools through trial and error, prepare for further exploration, and gradually establish bases for shelter and resupply.
Additionally, mutation is part of the game's adaptation mechanics. Characters can change through interactions with the underground ecosystem, attempting to coexist with the environment; or they can rely on science, tools, and equipment to cope with survival pressures. The above outlines the overall gameplay direction, with specific available content subject to the current test version.
How to Join the Playtest
The playtest opens on October 14 and is expected to last for two weeks. Currently, there is a "Join Playtest" button on the Steam store page. After logging into Steam, players can click "Request Access" to submit an application, and download the test client once approved.
Blind Descent is scheduled to launch its Early Access version on December 2, 2026.
