Veteran esports organization Evil Geniuses has announced that it will cease all competitive activities and daily operations starting November 2, 2026. This adjustment covers the entire organization, not just a specific title or division; players from all teams are free to negotiate with other teams or organizations effective immediately.
EG stated that it had reshaped its organizational operations and continued to invest funds over the past few years, hoping to get its business back on track. However, pressures facing the esports industry are intensifying, with limited sponsorship opportunities and rising costs required to maintain competitiveness in top-tier tournaments. Management ultimately concluded that it was no longer possible to sustain operations responsibly in the current market environment.
The organization will gradually wind down its business and handle follow-up matters with affected players, coaches, and staff. VALORANT players and coaches may sign with new teams after the 2026 season concludes on November 2.
Founded in 1999, Evil Geniuses boasts a history of over 25 years. The organization won The International 5 (TI5) for Dota 2 in 2015, the Call of Duty Championship in 2018, the League of Legends LCS Summer Split in 2022, and the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Champions world title in 2023.
