Korean indie development studio HEXIT released a new PC title, "MECCHA LIAR," on October 21. This game supports bluffing battles for 2 to 4 players, where players must judge whether the item in the box matches others' declarations; incorrect judgments accumulate penalties that can lead to elimination. The game is priced at 497 yen, with a 10% launch discount available until November 4.
In the game, participants deceive each other in an unidentified space for a huge prize, with basic rules similar to the German board game "Cockroach Poker." In each round, players place one of the following items into a box: a bullet, lighter, battery, amplifier, nail, or knife, and then declare to others what is inside the box.
The player who receives the box can choose to "Challenge," opening the box to verify the previous person's statement; or they can choose not to check the contents and directly select "Pass," handing the box to another player. The more people the box passes through, the harder it becomes to track who made the initial declaration and who lied.
If a player incorrectly judges whether a statement is true or false, they will suffer the corresponding penalty based on the item in the box. After accumulating four penalties from the same weapon, the player will be executed in the corresponding manner and eliminated. In addition to discerning the truthfulness of statements, players must also observe the penalties already accumulated by their opponents before deciding which item to claim and whether to risk challenging.
