One Bit Horror announced the PC horror game Please Remain Dead, currently in development, on October 21 and opened its Steam store page. Players must continuously play dead on an autopsy table, deceiving the coroner in the same room by suppressing their bodily reactions.
At the start of the game, the player is covered with a white sheet and secured to the table. The coroner believes the player is dead but still checks for bodily reactions: stop breathing when a chest detection device appears, relax your limbs when your arm is lifted, and keep your gaze fixed when light shines into your eyes. Any visual, tactile, or auditory anomalies could reveal that the player is still alive.
The coroner may place a hand on the player's abdomen, raise a hammer, or tighten restraints again, and will remember any suspicious signs previously detected; repeating mistakes increases the risk. Although restrained, players can still move one hand and must use the few seconds when the coroner turns away to advance their escape.
Meanwhile, a foreign object inside the player's body begins to move as if breathing, requiring manual suppression to avoid drawing the coroner's attention. The release date for Please Remain Dead has not been determined, and Japanese is not currently supported; the trailer mentioned a free demo, but its specific launch date has not been announced.
