NVIDIA has released graphics driver version 621.01, officially adding support for Microsoft's Advanced Shader Delivery technology. This technology pre-compiles game shaders in the cloud, aiming to reduce wait times during startup and minimize CPU load spikes and frame stuttering caused by runtime compilation.
This solution combines DirectX 12, Windows 11, and the Microsoft Agility SDK. Developers can include shaders in a state object database, which Microsoft's cloud then pre-compiles for a wide range of hardware and driver combinations. The first supported titles include Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.
Users need to download games via the Xbox PC app, but this solution is not tied to the store. Even if a game is purchased from Steam, it can still benefit as long as the Xbox PC app is installed on the computer. NVIDIA states that this approach can achieve nearly 100% cache hit rates; in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, players can skip the shader compilation screen.
In addition to NVIDIA's 621.01 driver, AMD graphics cards using Adrenalin 26.6.1 or later also support this technology. Devices equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 series chips require driver version 2026.08.3 or later. The final effect depends on whether the game, system, and corresponding drivers all meet the requirements.
