Nintendo released the Switch 2 motion-controlled sports game "Nintendo Switch Sports: Resort" on October 22. Set on Wuhu Island, the game features 12 sports events and expands the play area from just the courts to the entire island.
Players can experience tennis, bowling, archery, boxing, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, golf, finger sumo, propeller planes, skateboarding, and jet skiing by swinging or tilting Joy-Con 2 controllers. Some events feature additional mini-games and rule variations, such as 100-pin bowling, can-smashing returns, obstacle courses, moving floors, and rhythm-based catching.
Beyond competitions, players can ride skateboards, jet skis, and planes to explore the island by land, sea, and air. Activities include collecting landmark photos, finding hidden hibiscus flowers, chasing dolphins, enjoying views at different times of day (daytime, dusk, and night), or participating in races.
In the single-player "Island Ranking" mode, players start at rank 20 in each event and work their way up. After defeating the island champion, they will face a powerful opponent known as the "Legend." Players can choose between Sportsmates or custom Mii characters, and points earned through gameplay can be exchanged for hairstyles, outfits, face paint, and special sports equipment.
The game supports local multiplayer for up to four players and online battles. Online features include ranked professional leagues that affect your standing and casual matchmaking without rankings. A paid Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required for online play. Older Joy-Con controllers can also be connected but do not support certain events that rely on mouse-like controls. The digital version costs 5,980 yen (tax included), while the physical version costs 6,980 yen (tax included).
