EA has officially announced a new American football project titled "Project Football," confirming that it is being developed by its American football team and positioned as a "social-first" open-world experience.
The title was first unveiled in an internal letter from EA outlining its future strategy. The company stated that two new projects, including this one, would be revealed in the coming months. The business model, specific gameplay structure, and release date for "Project Football" have not yet been confirmed, nor is it clear whether it will be a standalone game, an evolving platform, or a spin-off or reimagining of the Madden NFL series.
EA's current portfolio already covers the Madden NFL and College Football lines. The internal letter did not provide a clear answer as to whether "Project Football" will become a third product line or take the place of another series.
EA also stated that it will continue to invest in sports games and explore new ways for fans to interact with teams, athletes, and their favorite sports. EA Sports FC remains a key franchise for the company, while the new Fight Night title has entered pre-production. At this stage, the most clearly defined features of "Project Football" remain its "social-first" approach and "open-world" positioning.
