Report: EA and DICE Have Started Development on New Battlefield Title, Earliest Release Late 2028

Insider Tom Henderson revealed that EA and DICE have begun production on the next numbered Battlefield title, but the project is still in a very early pre-production phase. Even under the most optimistic schedule, the new game won't release before late 2028, and EA has not yet officially announced the project.

消息称EA与DICE启动《战地》新作 最早2028年底推出

The project is reportedly moving forward amid EA's restructuring, studio closures, and cancellations of other titles, with development running parallel to Star Wars: Battlefront III. The publisher aims to give the team more time to refine the concept, though this has not been officially confirmed by EA.

The current title, Battlefield 6, had a relatively stable launch that attracted a large player base and competed with Call of Duty, but it subsequently lost a significant portion of its initial players. The most recent season faced community criticism for skins that deviated from the military aesthetic, as well as issues with netcode and map balance.

Sources believe EA will not end Battlefield 6's service early due to the launch of a new title, with its seasonal support expected to continue at least until 2028. This approach mirrors the maintenance strategy for Battlefield 2042, which continues to receive support until the next installment is ready.
