Ouloboros has modified the protagonist's sword-drawing run animation in Savior: Blade Oath, sparking debate among players. With support for both the old and new animations, the developers are considering including both sets, allowing the running style to evolve as the character progresses.
Previously, the protagonist ran with arms outstretched horizontally holding the sword, a somewhat quirky but distinctive pose. The new animation lowers the sword's position and reduces knee lift, while leaning the character's body forward for a more natural and crisp movement. This adjustment was originally made to address feedback about the strange running style and showcase the revised results.
After the video was released, some players felt the new version looked cooler and adhered better to common action logic, while others preferred the unique charm of the old version, finding it cute,青涩 (green), and reminiscent of a novice. In response to suggestions about the importance of animation transitions, the developers also demonstrated how both running styles connect into sprint attacks.
Ouloboros stated that both animations have their own appeal, so they are considering including both in the game. The protagonist starts off inexperienced in combat, and as the adventure progresses, their sword-handling and running posture will gradually change to reflect their growth through animated transitions. This plan has not yet been finalized.
