Recently, "Goodbye Seoul," a narrative puzzle-adventure game published by NEOWIZ and developed by JINO Games, officially participated in the Steam Next Fest. During the event, a new demo will be available globally. This marks another official appearance since its initial reveal, and the wishlist is now open—players can head to the Steam store page to add it with a single click.
"Goodbye Seoul" is set against the backdrop of an asteroid about to strike Earth. With only six months remaining until impact, the once-prosperous Seoul has been reduced to ruins. Players take on the role of Ro Yeon, a student retaking the college entrance exam, as she navigates this chaotic city in search of the truth behind a secret "Space Shelter Plan."
The game features a unique 2.5D pixel art style, blending the desolate streets of Itaewon with lingering neon lights to create a strong visual identity through its ruinous texture and layered lighting. The narrative is deeply intertwined with puzzle-solving; players must use their surroundings to solve levels and find hidden clues, encountering survivors pushed to the brink and unfamiliar companions across the city, gradually piecing together the truth.
The game centers around platforming and lightweight puzzle-solving. When facing danger, players can choose to observe, think, and avoid, using the environment to hide, divert attention, or subtly resolve conflicts. This design, which replaces direct confrontation with stealth and puzzles, places greater emphasis on atmosphere and emotional tension.
The demo available during this Next Fest starts from the prologue and covers Chapters 1 and 2, with an estimated playtime of 30 to 40 minutes. Players will begin at the story's starting point and journey to Itaewon, experiencing the gradual unfolding of the game's world.
Next Fest is one of the largest game demo events on Steam and a key window for new titles to gain exposure. For "Goodbye Seoul," participating in this event is a crucial step in re-establishing player awareness in the Chinese market. Previously, the game was showcased at the Busan Indie Game Festival, Gamescom, and WePlay Culture Expo, receiving multiple nominations at indie game festivals.
During the event, players can download and play the demo for free on Steam, and add the game to their wishlist via the Steam store page to stay updated with the latest news.
