Sin and Punishment, an action game released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000, has received an unofficial native PC port called SnPRecomp, which is currently in Alpha testing. The current version already supports widescreen, high resolutions, anti-aliasing, and frame rates exceeding the original's standard 30 FPS.
This project uses N64Recomp to statically recompile the original game code, then runs it via N64ModernRuntime with the RT64 graphics renderer. The pre-recompiled code can run directly on modern hardware without emulating the Nintendo 64 processor.
In terms of controls, the project is configured by default for modern dual-analog controllers, with full button remapping support as well as keyboard input. It is compatible with both the original Japanese version and unofficial English fan translations, but does not include game data; users must provide their own legally obtained game dump files.
The developer states that the current version is already highly playable, but widescreen and high frame rate support remain experimental features. Since the original game was designed entirely for a 4:3 aspect ratio, extending the field of view may cause skyboxes or blank areas to appear at the edges of the screen in certain scenes. The project has been tested on Windows and provides native builds for Linux and Steam Deck, though it has not yet been verified on actual Steam Deck hardware.
